Stripes_ Pippa Jogging, Hyde Park

On illustration friday, Pippa was spotted jogging in Hyde Park, London,
Wearing tight lycra jogging pants and a striped top, Pippa caught the eye and apparently the heart of Terry as he walked the adorable Winston on a long lead.

  1. Oh my, so very original! Totally love all your teeny detail work. I love Terry's expression but Winston is the best! Ha, so hilarious. (Also, my dog is named Wilson and people call him Winston all the time). ;)

  2. I agree with Cindy...very original! Great composition of stripes.
Winston is the perfect name for a dog--and your Winston looks like Winston Churchill's dog--!

  3. Thanks Cindy D. I just had a premonition that I'll be carrying on in conversation about 'Wilson' Churchill and Great Britain during wartime. Give your boy a pat for me.

  4. Hi Elizabeth, I like how stripes can break up the picture plane into different levels and in this case paths.

  9. Thanks for your comments Kerry S, Wendy C, deer P, Leen's & Caitlin R. After many years of commercial illustration and children's books it's nice to return here to what I consider my more 'natural' hand and humour with these series of illustrations.

  10. I like the contrast of black detailed characters and simple colored background, it looks really interesting.

  11. Hi Sadhvi, I been liking the process of trying to have the contrasting elements work together. I could spend a lifetime creating and playing with the background texture variations.
Speaking of backgrounds, I had a look at your post http://pinkspool.blogspot.com/2011/12/illustration-friday-round.html
The 'background' environment of the little sprout forest is fantastic and it gives your potter character with her lovely colours and enormous cool braid a nice whimsical feel. Especially in the first photo.
